Hello,

I have samsung series 5 laptop with a OCZ ssd. This combination has worked with no problems for the last 6 months. The OS was Windows 8.1.

Anyway yesterday when i got home my computer had switched itself off. When booting up , it wouldnt load fully and only got to the windows logo screen. When I restarted nothing changed and it kept getting stuck at the same place.

I made a bootable USB and accessed the BIOS to boot from the USB. Nothing changed and it got stuck again. (USB priority was set to no 1.)
I tried disabling the SSD from BIOS and nothing changed. When I disconnected the SSD manually (from the SATA cable). Windows Setup finally loaded up.

So is my SSD fried or is it fixable? Bios recognizes when the SSD is connected.

Thanks in advance.

(btw sorry for my english)

Solution
It's possible that your SSD is file but your installation is corrupted. Are you willing to re-install? If so, I would
1) Clone the drive to an external disk
2) Just for shits and giggles, try to boot from that disk. If you get the same problem, your installation may be hosed, or the disk could be too dead to copy properly. If it works, your SSD is hosed.
3) Do a Secure Erase on the SSD. Not just a format, a Secure Erase resets it to factory state and TRIMs all the blocks.
4) Install the OS on the SSD and see if if works this time.
5) Download diagnostics from the manufacturer and test the SSD to see if it is dying.
