Sound issues between win7 and 8.1

Right im using a playstation monitor and previous to my fresh install of win7 worked fine but since it wont output the sound through the monitor but if i boot up my pc into 8.1 it works perfectly, ive checked drivers and updates and am at a loss.

just downloaded the chipset drivers from intel and i have a newer version installed allready,Sound drivers were installed via the disc that came with my mobo and updated, what i find strange is that the drivers for the my pc that i installed from the msi cd's havent been installed for windows 8

The Windows 8 drivers can only be installed from within Windows 8, same with Windows 7 drivers, they will only install from within Windows 7. Putting it another way, your MSI CD will only install drivers for the version of Windows you are actually running at the time that you run the installer on the CD.
