I have this computer: DX2200 upgraded RAM to 2gb and CPU to pentium d 925. I wanna upgrade my GPU now and I don't know if my psu can handle it. If a 250w psu cannot handle the GT610, then can it handle the hd 5450?

Thanks

i wouldn't. It sounds like is the PSU that came with the computer??? If thats the case i REALLY wouldn't. those are Chinese crap and not actually rated for what the claim. Minimum on the 610 is 300. Could probably sneak by with 250w if its a quality one but i prefer overkill on power rather than stressing one out.

How about the HD 5450 MSI edition? And yes the PSU came with the computer. Will it handle the 5450?

Or the 5450 2gb by ASUS? It says 75w maximum power consumption.

I still wouldn't. Im telling ya those PSU's really suck. You can try it. but i foresee it getting messy when gaming or just a short lived computer

How much power does my CPU consume? If it is around 100w I should be barely handling the card. I don't know. Damn old compuers, lol

Right man but like i said its really not a 250w PSU. say its 200W of bad quality power. say everything in your pc takes 100W (just say) +75w now thats almost maxing out your power supply. the closer to full load a power supply is the less efficient they are. and they dont like to be run at 100% Ive seen them poop the bed from kids throwing low power cards in their moms old computers to play wow. IF it was a quality psu it might be different. Sorry but unless someone else on here has a different opinion id say dont do it
