I want to buy a new GPU but i don't know if i should buy now the R9 290 on wait for maxwell.

I have HD7950 and i want to upgrade it.
I don't know if i should wait for maxwell (maybe GTX870) or buy now the r9 290.
What should i do?

I had a 670 but didn't feel like waiting so ended up with a 780ti when it went on sale ($660 when I bought $630 now). I have a feeling the 8xx series may be a while, 3-6 months as NVidia is doing pretty well with their lineup. Yes prices will drop upon a new release but I still believe it may be a while. What I think is happening right now is neither camp has any new killer GPU's to offset their current generation so there will be this back and forth price dance since AMD is finally dropping prices which will force NVidia to drop prices as well.

Wait for maxwell, they are suspected to be able to suffice 4k very well, with modern day GPU's don't do well at. That could mean huge prices but very good performing cards. I'd wait!

Dates are subject to change, there is also no conformed release date, and no real specs for the cards.
