Hello peoples,

I want to make the move to 4k, and I want to know if I should upgrade my GPU.

I am currently running 2x Sapphire HD7870 OC in crossfire. Will a single R9 290x/GtX 780/GTX 780 ti be better in 4K?

The rest of my rig is pretty solid, but I do need to install an aftermarket CPU cooler and stuff like that. FX-8350 etc etc.

Yes, a lot better. A single card uses less power, normally gives better results and is generally a lot better than 2 cards.

I know overall a single card is better, Skyrim will certainly yell at me less. I've been looking for benchmarks and couldn't find any.

Out of the three cards above which would you choose? I mostly play Skyrim, BF4, Guild Wars 2, and stuff like Bioshock.

The 780 Ti performs on average 2 or 3 FPS more than the 290X, it also runs a lot cooler and uses less power, but the 290X is obviously quite a bit cheaper normally. It's up to you in the end. Benchmarks: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/11/11/geforce_gtx_7...
