Hi everyone, looking to upgrade my computer from a prebuilt HP to something that suits me better since my PC is about 3 years old and starting to run a little slow.

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: month away tops

Budget Range: 350ish

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, photoshop, illustrator

Are you buying a monitor: no

Parts to Upgrade: Ram, motherboard, cpu, tower ( I don't need a card or psu)

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg or microcenter

Location: City, State/Region, Country - New Rochelle, NY

Parts Preferences: no preference

Overclocking: no

SLI or Crossfire:no

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

I'm upgrading because my computer has been running a little slow, right now it is just an HP prebuilt computer with the psu and graphics card changed. I use photoshop a lot and play a lot of games such as wow, civ 5, guild wars 2 etc

This is what I came up with:
AMD

ASRock 970 Extreme4 Socket AM3+ 970 ATX AMD Mother
http://www.microcenter.com/product/382952/970_Extreme4_Socket_AM3_970_ATX_AMD_Motherboard

and windows 7 off amazon for $85. Comes out to around $325.00. Thanks for any help/advice

Without knowing your past components it's hard to recommend things, especially without knowing the PSU.

The parts you choose look fine, but I'd still be wary without knowing anything about the PSU. (Didn't mention in your post anyways :p )

Edie: read again. I guess when you say "with the PSU changed" you mean you got a real one instead of one that came with the prebuilt. Just a little hard to understand :)

Antec 450, yes I changed the PSU when I got a new video card because the one that came with it was junk and probably would have blown up with the card lol
