Will a core 2 duo e8500 bottleneck the gtx 760?

Hello everyone,

My current setup is the following:
MOBO : Asus p5qe
CPU: Core 2 duo E8500 OCed at 3.7Ghz
RAM:4x1GB 800Mhz
PSU:650watt corsair
SSD:128gb samsung 830
GPU:Asus 5750 Formula

So i am thinking of buying a new GPU and i was looking at either the R9 270x or the gtx 760, i am mostly leaning towards the gtx cause of the PhysX. I know for a fact that the R9 270x wont bottleneck my system cause a friend of my is using that card with the E8400 stocked with no issues. My question is will the CPU bottleneck the gtx 760 and at what lvl?

I'm not sure if your CPU will slow you down but I would upgrade your ram. Even if it was just a change to 8gb 1600mhz.

Its ddr2 so it doesnt worth upgading to that and i think ddr2 at 1600mhz now its kinda not in the market not sure thought.Thanks anyways

Yes, I had a pentium dual core once, and it bottlenecked a single GTX 260. In most current games ie BF4, Far Cry 3, your cpu will be running 100%, while your gpu will be at maybe 50% usage if that. Upgrade time.

Of course the 270x will be badly bottlenecked by a E8500. I see that u have O.C ed ur processor to 3.7, with that it should be able to handle a HD7770/R7250x/gtx650 but no more than that. You need to upgrade to at least an I3 or a better i5.

As i said a friend of mine bought the R9 270x a month ago and he is using it with the E8400 stocked and he has no bottleneck issues or anythink like that. I personaly played titanfall with no issues in his PC (E8400,Asus p5qe,4GB ram,r9 270x) thats his system i also benchmarked the CPU and the GPU and had no issues so i dont think the E8500 will bottleneck the R9 270x. The big issue for me is that i havent had the chance to test the gtx 760 in a system like mine so thats what i want to know ...will the E8500 at 3.7 bottleneck the 760 in games Like World of warcraft - diablo 3 - lineage 2?
