This motherboard was bought used. Everytime it is powered off for more than a few hours the bios settings get cleared and I get the 'Hit F1 to go into settings' 'CMOS settings wrong' type messages. Also every so often it goes into a 'bad BIOS checksum' loop. Other than these issues I am still able to boot into windows if I hold insert, and everything is all good. I have updated the bios to the most recent, but this changed nothing.

Is this repairable? What else can I do? I have tried different ram, cpu, bread boarding. All with no luck.

Solution
The most likely reason for BIOS settings being lost and the BIOS checksum error is an expired CMOS battery.
It's a small, coin-type battery that clips on to the motherboard - - usually a 3-volt CR2032.

Replace that with a new one and you should find that fixes it.

make sure you fit the new battery with '+' (positive) side facing up.
