Hello i have a computer with processor core 2 quad q6600 2.4 ghz kind of old with a motherboard dp35dp.

600W cooler master pw.

and r7 260x oc 2gb sapphire video card.

The thing is since a week from here my processor has idle over 80c specially when i play games like fifa14. bf4 gets over 90.

I have notest that the fan that is over it is not working ive tried unplug and plug in it again and its not working.

Ihave clean the cooler of the processor because it has a lot of dirty around.

So my question is do i have to buy just a fan for the processor or the whole system around the processor to keep it cool or just a little fan over it?

I dont know so much about processor stuff pls help.

And can u recommend me a cheap fan to buy in amazon or newegg it would be much apreciatted

Thanks a lot!

Solution
any kind of fan would work assuming you can attach it.

you can just replace the unit with something like this.

otherwise get a hyper 212 or something so that you can use the same cooler for your next build

the above is considered one of the best budget CPU coolers out there

When the temp. reaches 80+, it becomes a "worrying factor". Unplug the fan(i think it's the cabinet fan,is it?) and apply a thermal pest after removing the older one by taking out the heatsink and gently spreading it over the processor(just a drop/pinch) and is your system under O.C?
