Nvidia makes the GPU's, Gigabyte puts their own cooler on it and makes some small changes. Same with the other partner companies like ASUS, EVGA, PNY, Zotac, MSI, etc. Thye are all the same base GPU but with different tweaks.

You should get a card with at least 2GB of VRAM.

I would recommend getting at least the GTX 560 or 660 but it looks like most of them are out of stock.

GeForce cards generally perform slightly better, but AMD Radeon cards are cheaper. If you are trying to get the best for your budget, it might be smart to get an AMD Radeon card.
