(CF/SLI) 290 vs 290x vs 780 vs 780 Ti

Hey! I'm planning on building an amazing gaming PC after a pretty pretty long time (4 years+ probably) and need help on deciding which one of these cards is best for the money TODAY AND if you have some future telling talent, which one of these cards is best for the money in the future. I'll be playing on 3 1080p monitors, but just to be super future proof, lets say I'm running 3 1440p/ 1 4k monitor.

*ONLY compare GPUs (price and performance) to themselves. The CPU/MB/PSU/RAM etc doesn't matter at the moment.

1) 290 vs 780 (for the money + raw performance)
2) 290x vs 780 Ti (for the money + raw performance)
3) CF 290 vs 70 Ti (for the money + raw performance)
4) Any other combination that you recommend is better than the ones listed above

Some people would argue that Sli is better than Cf, I personally don't lean one way or the other. Though the r9 290/x are both high power cards. At 4k gaming I'd most certainly recommend the extra vram, that's where it comes into play most.

Cf 290 would be about the same as 780 Sli but cf 290 would certainly be more powerful than a single 780ti.

R9 290 ~ GTX 780 < R9 290x < GTX 780TI...

Cost for performance at high end isn't the best, but I'd say overall, the R9 290 or 290x are the best bet, unless you just want to drown a ton of money into the GTX 780TI SLI, which would by far be the best.

UPDATE: I understood you, but looking at some benchmarks for games at 4k, in some games the CF 290x "beats" the SLI 780 Ti and vice versa. Why is that? Which pair is actually better in terms of raw performance in general?
