Hi - this is my first post.

I currently have an Intel MSI Z77-G43 socket 1155 motherboard with a core Core I5 3450 CPU running on a stock intel cooler at around 45-50 degrees and although the CPU isnt too hot really the fan is driving me nuts !

I have looked around for alternate coolers - I dont want to have to remove my motherboard to ft a backplate and I am on a tight budget.

So I have settled on the Zalman CNPS5X Performa - its middle of the road but should do the job and I shouldnt have to have the fan spinning as fast to maintain a slightly lower temperature.

My question is will the CPNS5X it fit my motherboard - on the Z77a-G43 there is very little space and on two adjacent sices there are quite big motherboard heatsinks in place - which I am worried will get in the way of the clips which need to hook onto the plastic Intel adapter bracket - also there is a screw to tighten which looks like it might just screw right into the top of the heatsink.

Currently the heatsink I am worried about only has about 10mm clearance from my Stock intel cooler so its tight.

Has anyone tried fitting this specific CPNS5X to an MSI-Z77a-G43 board ?

Many thanks for any advice but please dont make this a "which cooler should he actually buy" thread lol.

Solution
When you buy the aftermarket cpu cooler, you need to consider 1) the cooler is compatible the MB or not (socket type). 2) the cooler can fit into the case or not (high). 3) the cooler will block the RAM or not if you use the non low profile RAM.

And usually there is more than enough space around the cpu socket for the 92mm cooler.

thanks Cin they are helpful photos but what I am really worried about is the width of the Cooler fixings themselves impacting on capacitors and heatsinks around the CPU socket.
