Approximate Purchase Date: September 2014

Budget Range: 2000-2350

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming while streaming music and playing a movie (lol)

Parts Not Required: I'm building from scratch

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: pcpartpicker.com

Country: US

Parts Preferences: no preference

Overclocking: i will look into it once the computer is built

SLI or Crossfire: no

Monitor Resolution: gaming screen will be 1920x1080, movie screen is a tv

I don't usually play games that have just come out, but I want to build a system that will play those semi-old games incredibly well, while being able to do other tasks (pandora, movie, web surfing) without affecting performance.

To take full advantage of that 144Hz monitor, you'll want more power than a single 780. Here's in your budget with a pair of 290s. They'll really put that screen to use :)

thanks for the input! here is the updated list (im going a little over budget but i feel confident that prices will drop enough over the next 3 months for it to go back under 2300) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3OQMn
it may be a little over the top but I would rather be prepared for the next few years than want to rebuild in one

If you want to withstand a few years, I would go with a pair of 290s over the 770s... The Windforce keeps em cool and quiet enough to not worry about it.

Well my build doesn't have case fans and only has a 290x , even if my build isn't the best i'm still suggesting it for the 6 cores
