I have basic cable and internet. The cable box has one coax input and one output.
Normally the cable comes from the wall into a splitter, one leg to the TV box and the other to the modem. I want to run two TVs from the box as well as internet.
My big idea: run the cable from the wall into the cable box. Split the signal out from the box (one to TV the other into a splitter running to the other room and the internet. This would require me to use one remote.
I tried this rig and it was working fine BUT...at some point the internet stopped functioning.
After calling the cable company they tried to sell me a new modem router combo. The wireless router was not able to pick up the DHCP address. I was able to correct that issue by reinstalling the router.
Will this rig work long term or can the cable company interfere with the connection by detecting signal variances?

The modem/router is not getting a good enough signal.
There are coax splitters that give priority to one leg (smaller db loss).
