My external hard drive was dropped on the floor and my computer does not recognise it at all. operating lights come on but nothing happens. Is there any way I can retrieve the photos and files. If I cannot will a computer fix it company be able to do it????

Solution
It could be many things.

1. The external enclosure could be broken. Take the drive out and connect it via a USB cable or dock and see what happens. Or connect it internally in a desktop PC.

2. The drive itself might be dead. If after trying #1 it is still not recognized, you may be out of luck. Any data recovery company will be expensive.
