PSU suddenly stopped working

Solution
that's cool I knew what it ment but I was fishing to see if he did but I see folks saying ''I ran it on top of the motherboard box and now it don't work'' I just feel it needs to be mounted just like in a case with all stand offs/ mounting holes fastened even if its open air mounted.. maybe I'm wrong on that ground thing but I cant risk a board of mine over that cause if its mounted properly that no more a issue.[opinion]
I don't really know what you mean by breadboarding but if it was that you ran the motherboard unmounted it my have caused damage .. I may be wrong but it needs to be mounted cause the holes may be traced for ground points and if no ground was present when you fired it up well you should know the rest.. I feel a motherboard should be properly mounted in the case or test bed so all the mounting holes are seated as normal.. [opinion]
