Will AMD be releasing any more high performance CPUs?

I really like AMD for awhile but they haven't released any high performance cpus in awhile and their new cpu lineup doesn't appear to be focusing on high performance gaming cup's. And since I'm building a new gaming computer, I would like to invest my money into something that will be easily upgraded in the future. The fx series motherboards don't even have modern chipset including a Pci-e 3.

So is there any glim hope that AMD will continue producing high performance cpus?

More about amd releasing high performance cpus

Nope the am3+ Sockel will die and AMD will only focus on APUs now, that means there wil bel no longer AMD FX processors in deveolepment
  2. there is talk but its a long long way off not even on the radar pci-e 3.0 is kind of a joke it has almost no real world advantage
  3. Thanks, its sad to see once a such good cpu company(before they switched to modular cores) to die out.
  4. amd is not dying haha they just see the future as apu which is kind of sad
  5. I ment to see the company not focusing on high performance cup's. I guess they have to prioritize their products first before end up doing high performing cpu again.
  6. I am currently running a fx 8350 and can not stress how good it actually is its its fantastic you just have to get a good price on them but there is most likely no more future for am3+
  7. Yeah no AMD FX in the near future. Maybe AMD will release New high Ende CPUs with ddr5 system ram

I have faith that they will but in the mean time why not enjoy some of the great cpu's that intel has to offer
  9. I will geht an xeon e3 -1230v2 tomorrow :)
  10. nice
  11. Like I have been saying for over a year now.
AMD needs to scrap the FX lineup, scrap the AM3+ socket, and start over.

I want to see TRUE 8 physical cores, no resource sharing modules, not these weak cores. True 8 core Phenom III is all I want to hear. New architecture, new socket.
  12. Yeah, i might go with a lga2011 socket cpu by intel, I just not familiar with any intel motherboards that support lga2011, any suggestions?

    Agreed

Get the 4930K if you are not on a budget.
    It's a 6 core hyperthreded i7 (12 Threads)

Im on a budget, but not a tight budget. Im putting most of it towards a gtx 780 ti dual classified
  16. Wait for the new GTX 800 series for desktop PC. Try to upgrade your CPU first.
If you are in a tight budget, the xeon e3-1230v2 is defenandly the CPU you want. It's basically just an i7 4770K, clocked 100 MHz lower and without iGPU
  17. http://

uhhh do you people not check the news daily...
  18. click on my link.. AMD is planning high performance FX APU's.. Im going to assume the GPU on these chips wont be the chips power. im guessing they will be more CPU sided like 12 CPU cores 4 gpu cores or something. maybe no GPU cores..

    FM2+ maybe...

Im guessing FM3 w/ DDR 4 support and new chip sets

I have said the same and agree with you 100%. If they actually did that and if it actually gave Intel some competion like the Phenom II did I would go back to AMD. Untill then AMD is useless to me for my needs and I'll continue buying Intel CPU's.

When is that GTX 800 series coming out?
  21. Probably in autmn or in summer.
The Maxwell efficienty in the GTX 800 series will allow the card to have 6x performance per Watt over gk110
That means if a card in the 800 series consumes the same ammount of power in the GTX 780 ti, it will be approx. 6x better than the GTX 780 TI

Probably won't be the same wattage, the gtx 780 is 250W and it is made on a different scale
  23. But you got what i meant ?

Yeah, I do get what you mean, but I did a little research on the release dates and their not expected till late 2014- early 2015
  25. I didn't know so. The last time i checked they said it will be released in q3 2014

Still, thats a long time to wait, would rather just get the gtx 780 ti
  27. OK but just get one 780 ti now and another 780 ti later in, if the game performance isn't enough for you anymore

That was my plan, and i'll definitely do that once the prices drop lower
  29. Ok then you are good 2 go. Which CPU will you get. As i said i suggest you the xeon e3-1230v3

intel i7-4820K socket lga2011 quad core 3.7Ghz unlocked
  31. Smh.... AMD is going to lean towards APU's in the near future which isn't very efficient for gaming. Not going to lie but the FX-Series were great while it lasted(still kinda is.. but not for long).

Yeah, I agree. I still think AMD should still have at least 1 high perfuming cpu to compete with intel...
  33. Apart from the name, what do you think intel has? CPUs with integrated graphics aka APUs. There is nothing inherently inefficient in the design, only the x86 cores used on the die, which are weaker than intel cores.

If AMD could make substantially stronger cores, would anyone here worry about the fact it was an APU?

Well, AMD did have very bad cores and were by no means efficient at it, however, the 8 modular cores still had 8 threads and to some extent when the fx-8xxx and fx-9xxx were releases, they could compete with intel primarily because they were cheaper with a tiny bit of performance lost. Also AMD chips are generally pretty easy to over clock to 5Ghz which compensated for the crappy cores.

I decided on going with the lga1150 with the intel 9 series chipset and wait for the intel devils canyon i7 which I believe is coming out in June 2nd

Yes, smart thing, i also decided for the Haswell for my new build. I dont really need a beast PC i just went with a nice i5 4440/GTX750 :)

The i5-4440 is a beast compared to anything AMD has for gaming.

But it isnt compared to what intel has to offer. Its a great combination of CPU and GPU anyways. ;)
