Ok, so I just got my new computer about 2 weeks ago. It has a GTX 760 in it. Ive been playing DayZ and all was well until one day my screen just randomly started having these white squares on it. it used to just flicker in and out but after today it has stayed and is not only there when I play a game but its on my start bar and even on google chrome (black lines in this case).

that is a link to a screen shot of what is going on. I took a picture of my game with fraps and then screen capted so you could see the start bar ect.

Any help would be great! I really hope hy graphics card isnt dieing :(

I'd say your graphics card is a Lemon.
Best option is to bring it back for a new one. These things happen sometimes.

Hey,

this is what we call "artifacting" - it's usually caused by unstable overclock and/or overheating of the GPU.

Did you put your PC together or did you buy it prebuilt?

It's worth checking your GPU temperatures. You can use something like http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ or http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm or http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php or anything similar to check your temps.

Depending on the particular model of GTX 770 you have your idle temps should be around 28-35 C and under load should not get higher than 80 C.

Hay, Im at work right now so I cant check my GPUs temp but I bought it from cyberpowerpc. I believe it only has 2 case fans. & i never realy turned them up. So that is probably a very good posibility. I am a bit of a noob. So if this is the case, does that mean my gpu is fried or will it work fine once cooled off?

Hey,

if the heat was the issue then it should work normally when you get the temps back to normal. No damage should be done.

Ok, I am home now and I checked my GPU temp. It's at 80-83c with nothing running except Chrome. So on my case I turned up the Fan switches and realized nether are even on. So I guess Im going to have to go in an hook them up. Wish me luck. I hope I dont break anything lol

Actually nevermind, Its at 30c, (I googled Celsius to Farenheit and its about 83F so I accidentally put 80c) however, my fans arent wirking but I doesnt seem to be overheating. Since its not an overheating issue, any ideas?

Hey,

if your computer has been off for a while and you turn it on does it still have these artifacts? Also, do they appear on the screen if you didn't load Windows but went into BIOS for example?

I got the same thing you got a couple of days ago. I was watching Youtube then *poof* These white bricks were all over my screen. At first I thought it was the video, but I went out of the video and they were still there. I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition. (I also overclocked it a bit) I hope nothing is wrong with it. My temps stay in 30s Celcius while surfing the web and idle, so I don't know what's going on either but it hasn't happened since then.

Yes, I left my computer off all night and in the morning upon reboot they were still there. There dont appear on the windows login screen or on my computer background. They are on the start bar, start menu & google chrome aswell as any game I play.
