I have 3 Asus Vs247H 24'' monitors, and my graphics card is Radeon 6790 (2 DVI, 1 HDMI, 2 Minis) I orignally hooked it up with 2 DVi's and 1 HDMI - and the 2 DVI's worked but HDMI did not. I googled this problem with my graphics card to discover that if I bought a DVI->HDMI adapter this fixed the problem for some people. Got that cable and now the HDMI monitor will display but the DVI's will not at the same time. So this is a channel issue right, the HDMI shares a line with DVI so both won't work at the same time? IF that is the case, how in the world do I get 3 monitors to work with this setup? Also I have heard that I need an active display port adapter but I do not have a display port on the card. How can I use more then 2 moniters?

Solution

Those are mini Displayport outputs. You would need to buy an Active DisplayPort-> DVI converter. I'm looking for one, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Your MANUAL for the card explains the exact combination you can choose.

Seeing as it's an older HD6790 I suspect you might require to use one of the DISPLAYPORT outputs and a converter since you don't have a monitor with Displayport.

Such as DVI + DVI + Displayport-> Active DVI adapter

FYI, by six displays it means through Daisy chained Displayport monitors.

Do you mean the mini's? because i have no regular display ports. There is also a 95% chance I don't have the manual as I have had this card for a couple years now, suggestions?

And this will allow me to use 2 DVI + 1 mini DP for all 3 to work at the same time?

My setup is a 7950 with the center monitor hooked up with DL DVI. The side monitors are using the first mDP to DVI adapter. The one Photonboy linked should also work, I bought mine off of Amazon for around $30. Finally my TV is hooked up over HDMI. All four screens work great. It is well worth getting those adapters.

I bought the adapter photon suggested but i still have the same problem. I am 100% sure my graphics card supports up to 6 moniters because i still have the box and it says right on there. Why cant i get 3 to work??
