I need help please

I recently bought more ram for my computer, my friend who knows more about somputers than i said they should be compatible together. When i got my ram in the mail about a week aga, when i installed the ram, it was not actually showing up on the specs. When i removed the new ram, and moved the old ram into a different slot (I have four) the pc would mess up like there was no ram? What should i do

You've got a prebuilt, can try updating the BIOS or if current, try clearing the CMOS and then try the sticks, but believe your Gateway has a locked BIOS (can't make adjustments) so are sort of stuck, either they work or they don't....if they won't after the BIOS update or Clear CMOS, then might check w/ Gateway for 'compatible' DRAM

Pull the battery out for a couple minutes with the PSU unplugged, then put it back in, then try and boot to the BIOS the date should be way off,, that lets you know it's reset, need to enter the correct date and time then try booting to Win

tried everything and doesnt seem to be working, i think ill just return the ram i bought and get one i know for sure is compatible, thanks for your help everyone

the ram you gave a link to is registered ram.( ECC ) it probably won't work on your board. is that the ram you purchased?
