I know already a 280 is equal to a 770, unfortunately I cannot find a good deal on a 770 for the same price.
I'm really worried about the 280x getting artifacts. I've heard a lot of stories and it sounds troublesome. I've also never had an amd card either.

I can get either for 250 bucks.
What's the better choice. I'll be playing nodded skryrim, witcher, dishonoured etc. Maybe elderscrolls online.

Got a 2500k, 8gb, 750 watt PSU, blah blah blah.

I downsampled with my old 560's I fried (spilled tea on them) but I guess that won't work with the amd card?

Solution
The 280x had issues on launch, because it was new. Now most issues have been ironed out.

As for the card, the 280x will perform better than the 760, and for the same price I would go 280x.
What brand are you looking at here?

As stated in the title, the MSI OC edition. I read about the fans messing up for some people. My 560's were MSI and they seemed fine but I'm stressed reading the negative feedback.

I dont know how I missed that, MSI makes some nice coolers for nvidia and amd alike. Those having issues are rare cases, people complain when something goes wrong, but most dont post about how good an item is.

I would say go for it, its covered by warranty either way.
