Not sure where this question belongs I am sure it is not just a windows xp problem. Does anyone here familiar with Trojan: Win32/Lecpetex.B Not sure if it's the same as the A version. Shows up on microsoft security essentials scan but it doesn't remove it. It might be new cause I can't find any information on it. Any help appreciated thanks.

I am not a virus-phobic, and don't bother with virus stuff. But do try Malwarebytes. They'll certainly do a better job of removing if possible.

Just to make sure, you are running MSE in safe mode right?

If so and if thats not working, theres various rescue CDs out there. Hirens Boot CD has some that would work well. It even has malwarebytes/etc on it so you can run it completely outside of the OS.

Malwarebytes did the trick. I know its a good program but Im always hesitant about using it cause about 10 or 15 years ago the first rogue antivirus i ever encountered called itself Malwarebytes and was a pain to remove. Must have left a scar. Thanks Again

ummm ok formatting the disk is always a last resort in this case there was over a terabyte of files to backup first. Thats no fun but thanks I got it fixed.
