Oh gosh.. I think I might've messed up my motherboard..

Hey guys I think i messed it up by plugging my 3.5mm sound from speakers while it was on first and then I plugged in the PSU.... Did i just completely ruined my motherboard.? I took my rig apart because I wanted to switch my PSU upside down because it was previous the other way around. Also my computer failed to turn on, I pressed the power button but the LED's and Fans just blinked but didn't turn on.

One thing that I know I could've done wrong was misplace the front panel POWER LED + and - but I just wanted to know did I ruin my motherboard by plugging in my 3.5mm speakers while it was on?

Why would you plug an audio jack into the PSU?
Test your PSU and see if it's dead.

Make sure you have everything plugged into the MOB right.
If the computer start to turn on the power button is connected right. (If you are pushing the button)
If the computer start to turn on the when you plug the PSU in then the front IO cables may be wrong.

Hey sorry, I re-read my post again and it is entirely typed wrong and confusing. I meant that I plugged my 3.5mm jack into the input of the motherboard first(while my speakers were turned on). Then I plugged in the plug from outlet to the PSU. My fear is that the 3.5 mm audio jack was inserted with electricity before the plug was plugged in from outlet to PSU. Could that have damaged my motherboard? Thanks for answering and I'll get right on it testing out the power button and front panel stuff. Thanks!

Okay it's very nice to know that.. Thanks. I didn't check the PSU through the multimeter way but I did do the Mobo, CPU, GPU, 1 stick of RAM test as well as with a flat head screwdriver to turn on the power and everything ran fine. All the fans from the CPU and GPU and PSU ran okay.

For the PSU, earlier today, when my PC was working, I downloaded a program to see my voltages for 12v, 5v and 3.3v and they were all in range.

The only possibility that I can conclude is misplacing the power + and -? (I've been referring to the Manuals but no success yet).

Hey Nathan, you were right! I used a friend's PSU and plugged everything in and it worked fine! Booted up to the OS and everything. But what I can't seem to figure out is why it worked before but didn't work when I was taking it out. It was working the past few days but I did notice that my dual monitor shutted off randomly and would not turn back on unless I hard resetted. Could that be the reason? A faulty PSU?

By the way, I just wanted to let you know the reason I wanted to open up my PC, it was because originally, the PSU fan was pointing upwards, and I have like an OCD kinda thing and I wanted it pointing downwards. So yeah! Thanks for diagnosing my problem. I'll best answer ya tomorrow regardless if you reply or not. Once again thanks man!

Ok, When a PSU fails it will cause tons of strange problems.
I understand. It is better to have the PSU fan point down.
Get a good brand PSU. That one did not have protection. (Sign of a junk PSU)
Get a good XFX or Seasonic PSU.
If your problem is fixed remember to pick a solution. :)
