Hello Guys!

During my adventure on finishing my build, I need to choose a GPU.
Here is my situation. I am using the Corsair 350D. I have no plans on overclocking my GPU, just my CPU as OCing the GPU looks very intimidating.

Games I will play (900P and 1080P @ Ultra 2xMSAA):
BF4
DayZ
H1Z1
CS:GO
CoD
Metro Last Light
Rust

Needs/Wants:
Easy recording w/o much performance loss.
60FPS constant w/ as few dips as possible.
Easy Optimization
I would like PhysX for games that support it.
Occasional Rendering
I would really like stable 60FPS on BF4.
No more than $150.

I was planning on getting one of these:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9280gaming3g - Would like this for the performance and free three games. Mantle for BF4 and True Audio.
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-n760tf2gd5oc - $244 even without MIR. Good performance.
http://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/msi-video-card-r9270xgaming2g - Two free games. OK performance. I would rather avoid the 270X due to performance vs other cards.

I would like some benchmarks if possible or a comparison, but they are not necessary.

Thanks Guys!

I was thinking along the same lines, but not only does it not have ShadowPlay, it doesn't have PhysX. Although I can use FRAPS to record, it would slow my game to a crawl. Obviously, that was an exaggeration, but you get the point. Although PhysX was a "failed" feature and is hardly ever used, games like Metro Last Light look amazing with it on. So does the 280's performance out play those of the 760 (ShadowPlay, GeForce Experience, PhysX, and Optimization?

While I am not disagreeing with you, I just wanted to make sure before I jumped into buying a card and being stuck with it. Thanks Guys!

*Look carefully at this graph: http://lanoc.org/review/video-cards/6834-sapphire-dual-x-r9-280-oc?showall=&start=6

So the above ORDER is correct, you need to look at the PRICE vs PERFORMANCE to determine the value. Some comments:

1) The R9-270X is slower, but also cheaper. To be FAIR I compared similar quality products with two Gigabyte cards. The R9-280 is about $60 more.

Gigabyte R9-270X: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr927xoc2gd

2) The GTX760 and R9-280 are pretty close with the R9-280 winning on average.

However, there are other factors with the NVidia card:
- G-Sync (awesome, but needs new monitor but in a year or two that may be a factor)
- PHYSX (in a few games it made a big difference such as Batman Arkam Asylum)
- Shadowplay (the big one for many people. Can RECORD or stream gameplay with minimal frame rate drop. Can record DESKTOP now. Works great.)

Other:
1) The R9-280's are also fairly new so I have limited customer feedback. I want to choose ASUS but it's slightly expensive. Otherwise I'd get MSI or Gigabyte.

2) OVERCLOCKING may or may not let the GTX760 close the gap. I've seen a lot of evidence that the NVidia cards have often achieved slightly higher overclocks with a good cooler but can't confirm that.

3) NVIDIA has released some DX11 tweaks that have improved performance in many games, so that will affect the benchmark scores above.

Probably in response to Mantle, NVidia's gone back to see what enhancements can be made. I think that's awesome.

In those charts the 280 either won by 5FPS or lost by 5FPS. I'd say that the 760's performance and features such as Shadowplay (Which is big for me) and in BF3 it averages 80FPS. Also, I can barely tell the difference between 1080P and 900P, so if getting a stable 60FPS means I have to do with 900P, that is a very viable option for me. On 900P on BF4, I should get constant 60FPS with few drops.

I know it has better performance. But it lacks features. It is only a few FPS away from the 760 and if I choose to use FRAPS then I am in bad luck. 760 W/ ShadowPlay > 280 W/ FRAPS

While that may be true, the GTX 760 can also be OCed easier. I also stated that I don't want to OC. But my final thoughts to you guys, and this is what I am going to base my purchase off of, is which is better: 280's RAW performance or 760's performance + ShadowPlay + GeForce Experience + PhysX?

G-SYNC:
The first monitors will have a premium of $100 to $150 I understand, but that will quickly drop. In two years I expect a $30 to $50 premium.

So, I suggest you watch the following video and read the preview article so you can make an informed decision. It can be a little confusing but the bottom line is G-Sync makes gaming much smoother, with less lag and screen tearing but all at the same time.

I am assuming you are a Nvidia fanboy?

AMD have their advantages, so do nvidia, RAW performance the R9 280 is better, drivers Nvidia is better. As a whole, AMD's card is faster and performance is decreased in games with the worse drivers, but in all, it puts the card still ahead as a whole.

I have never purchased an Nvidia card or an AMD card as this is my first build. I am leaning towards the 760 because of the features. For someone who prefers features over 5 extra FPS, I think that the 760 is right for me. But if the performance is as great as you say using just the 280, then I will most definetly get that. So my ultimate question is, is the 280's power better than the 760's power and features? Remember, I will be recording, and if the 280 gets 60FPS whilst recording, then there is no comparison, the 280 blows the 760 out of the water.

BF4 isn't the only game I will be playing. It is very demanding which is why I chose the benchmarks for it. But even with MANTLE, when I record, the FPS would be neck and neck. But for games that don't support it, I would be screwed over if I got the 280. IF I weren't recording, the 280 would be the better buy, but since I am, Nvidia's features are the way to go.

If the 280 isn't powerful enough whilst recording, why would you suggest an even slower card?
I have never purchased a video card before, so is there something I'm missing? Everyone is saying AMD, but clearly, for my intentions, a 760 would be best. Please explain.
