I am looking at building this rig myself and just wanted to see if anyone has any comments for/against or suggestions or compatibility concerns.

Case: Corsair 650D
PSU: Corsair RM850
Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Hero
CPU: Intel i7-4770K
CPU fan: Cooler Master V8 GTS
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2x8GB), 2400Mhz
Graphics: Asus GTX 780 dcii OC
Monitor: Asus VG248QE (2560x1080, 144Hz)
Operation: Windows 7 Pro on SSD Samsung 840 EVO 500GB
Storage: 1 TB and 2TB Western Digital Black HHD, 7200RPM
Blu Ray: Pioneer BDR-209EBK
DVD: Samsung SH-224BB OEM

Looking at a general use PC that is a bit future proof, and gaming with games like Batman, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, Thief, etc.

Thanks in advance! :)

Thanks for the thoughts. The other PSU I bought to use initially (i still have it and trying to sell it) is the Antec HCG-850M. The reason I went for the Corsair is people/review said the Antec HCGs was very loud! But I see that the Antec one is Tier 2, and the Corsair one is tier 3. On the link you provided, Tier 3 is the lowest tier they would recommend buying, so It can't be that bad, can it?

In regards to the CPU fan, the V8 is just a replacement for the stock cooler for now. I am going for a Black and Red theme, so it's red LEDs will blend nicely, and the brown Noctua's are definitely out. I'm getting the V8 just to replace the stock intel fan, as for the first few years I won't OC the CPU, when I do in a few years I will get a better performing fan. My research indicates the V8 will be sufficient to decrease the temperature of the 4770K over the stock fan. For the moment it is just for looks.

But as for the PSU's definitely interested in more comments of which of the two I have you would install. :). Anyone have the Antec's: are they really that loud?

I have bought both of the PSUs and will sell the one I won't use. (I bought them on holidays in America, both were way better than prices in Australia).

I bought the Antec first, but after seeing reviews of it's loud fan, I went and bought the Corsair).

Both are modular, so I suppose later when I start OCing and SLI my GTX 780 I could switch it out with another PSU then.

I think I added more info as you were replying: Just to clarify: I have both at home now. New. So you would install the Corsair RM or the Antec HCG?

PSU corsair RM isnt good in quality.

Hey Mr AMD Radeon, that RM850 is still going great... absolutely no problems 6 years later. :)

I ended up with the 650D, it is still doing great: it would only just fit an RTX 2800 super trio though (33cm in length, and just squeezed in with a vertical GPU mount.)

(which is why I would get the Strix RTX super as it is only 30cm long).
