i've posted before on a video card under 200 couple months back. the 7870 was suggested but i ended up having to put it off. now i am glad i couldn't get a card at the time because i can jump up a tier to either the 7970 or r9 280x. first card in like 10 years. i had an ati 64mb agp!

anyone know what the list for the gold award is? i can't find it. the amd4u site has tiny pics that i can't see well enough. i can make out tomb raider, absolution, sleeping dogs and thief. tr is really the only one i know i want to play and the others listed i don't know. maybe sleeping dogs.

i can snag a 7970 for around $40 cheaper than the 280x and wait for a steam sale. 4th is coming up and it might be an excellent one. or if its worth it to get the 280x. i know they are essentially the same card. i'm not a 60fps snob (no offense to anyone) and looking to hopefully get 1.5 - 2 years out of it. i know off the top of my head i want to play shadow of mordor, titanfall, bf4,dark souls 1 and 2, assassins creed 4, and if the pc gets gta v. i only have a 32 inch hdtv for my monitor so no going above 1080p or multi monitors.

hard to predict FPS, it always varies. It should do well ultra Metro with certainly above 50FPS.

those game rewards if downloaded through Origin are easily re-downloadable if you lose your data (it is saved on their cloud, if you login to your account, you will have the ability to get it back.)

Get the 7970 and tweak it to the R9 280X's performance, the best option.

sorry i meant gold reward. buying the 280x gets you 3 free games. i knew reading that after i posted it something was off. i'm trying to find out what the games are. either card with 3 games is going to be more or less the same price. if with the reward there's 3 i want to play then the 280x is what i want. if not then i'll go with 7970 and tweak it to get it closer to the 280x and watch the steam sales. been grabbing a game here n there while i save for the gpu when i see one that looks cool and is 90% off so i have some stuff to play.

so even metro will run at 60fps with this card? and on top of that i am running a fx-6350 for my cpu which i think hurts me a little but not much or enough to even bother me.

and that i am thinking about it does anyone know if with those game rewards if you were to lose the game (hdd failure) if you could get the game again after claiming it.
