The specification sheet for that motherboard lists " 2 (single @ x16 or dual @ x8) ". That means that SLI will run at x8.

X8/X8 is the same as X16/X16,X16/X8 or X16/X0, no issues it is running the best it can be.
Even if you compare a single GPU slot running at X16 vs X8, there is less then 2FPS difference, in SLI, less then that.

3.0 and 2.0 X16 or X8 has no difference, no performance difference at all, just added BIOS features which give no benefit to performance.

PCI-E 3.0 is nothing (As X16 and X8 is the same, X4 is not so watch out for that!), just to get a new CPU is what the bonus really is.

Most any current motherboard (LGA1150) is going to have PCI 3.0 X 16.
I guess I should modify that. I checked the cheapest LGA1150 motherboard, ad it didn't have PCI 3.0 X 16.

Z97 motherboard?
This is quite a good board by Asus, as Asus ahve the best boards for Haswell CPU's; Z97-A

This is a Z97 board, so it does not also just support 4th gen i7's but also the next gen 5th (devils canyon CPU's) A viable choice for a motherboard to upgrade later on with.

You really should, with a good cooler and an overclock and your CPU will be as fast as a brand new haswell i7.
