Looking to get my first graphics card, and i think i've decided on the GTX 770, I would like to know which is the best: MSI, EVGA, Asus or Gigabyte, I think I like the EVGA SC GTX 770 with acx cooler. Can you let me know your opinion or suggest another card around the £250/$300 mark? And will a 650W PSU be sufficient?

Also, completely unrelated, what is the best headset for around £30/$50? I quite like the Corsair HS30

Solution
I would get the 770 over the 280x personally. The EVGA cards with the ACX coolers are good, as are Asus (DCUII) and MSI(TFIII).

What PSU specifically? 650w is fine if the PSU is of good quality.

I would get a R9 280 or 280X as it will have the best performance per dollar. Or, if you are dead set on Nvidia, go with a MSI or Asus card, they have the best cooling for the price.

Thats fine then, you are good to go.

ps. Dont bother with the 4gb versions unless you plan to SLI in the future, with a single card there isnt a performance benefit.

Do you live in the UK? I'm asking because the AMD R9 cards are a lot cheaper than their Nvidia counterparts in the UK.

I ve upgraded from a xfx 6950 xxx to a palit gtx770 jetstream and couldn't be more happier, the power draw is less on similar ati graphics something I would check carefully with your 650 PSU..mine is powered by a corsair TX750,.I think 650 should be enough..what are the rest of your specs? About headset not sure for that price range..but look around for some reviews. Don't expect miracles..

Yes, however there isn't a big difference in price, maybe £20-£30, my friends use nvidia so i think i'll go for nvidia

Not really much, like £10-15 cheaper for a 280x than a 770.

That EVGA GTX680 didn't have an ACX cooler but the Asus had directCU so it isn't a great comparison

Assuming GPU-Z isn't lying to me, my 4 GB GTX 770 uses up to 2080 MB in Battlefield 4 at max settings at 1080p. And that's a game out right now, to say nothing of games that will be released during the lifetime of the card. Plus, memory-intensive SSAA/Supersampling is starting to make something of a comeback in a lot of new PC games.

I'd steer people away from lesser GPUs with extra VRAM, but I think with the GTX 770 it starts to become more defensible—especially when you consider that all of its competitors carry 3 GB. Bear in mind I'm not saying 4 GB is necessary for mainstream gaming, but > 2 GB already seems to prove useful occasionally.

Vram usage doesn't equal what is needed. In many games if more vram is available then it will take it and cache textures, thats not to say there is always a performance benefit by doing this. For the Extra cost of the 4gb versions you are often getting near the 780 which is much better.

Have a look at this comparing the 2gb 770 vs the 4gb 770, even at very high resolutions and multi screen

I dont know what i'll do in the future, i would likely buy a new card in the future rather than a second 770 in SLI
