Screen going black! Help!

Solution

I had a similar problem with an old HP 15" flat panel. It turned out a capacitor had blown in the monitors internal power supply- replaced the capacitor and it worked fine after that.

If the monitor isn't that old can you get it replaced under warranty?

U might be right, it is using an external power supply though, i will try if i could get another power brick instead.
It is not under warranty anymore sadly

The only other thing I can suggest- does it have multiple inputs (e.g. DVI + HDMI), if so have you tried using a different cable?
