My desktop is about a year old and a is hand built WIN7 OS gaming system. Internet has been working fine through the wireless connection to this point, but I played an MMO last night, woke up this morning and couldn't connect at all. Every Xbox/laptop/cellphone connects without issue, but my desktop bricks out.

Full map says "The adapter is not connected." Tried moving the adapter to different USB ports, same result.

My signal strength currently shows a red 'X', but occasionally will pick up my SSID and the neighbors networks as well, but the connection won't go past a "limited access" status when I am able to connect, but terminates shortly after.

I have reset the router before when I had this issue about 3 weeks back, but the problem returned. Power Cycling has given me 2 days of access before X-ing out, but today my weird ritual of button smashing isn't working and I'm looking for a more techincal and permanent resolve.

Turned off the Microsoft option to turn off the device for power management.

Reinstalled the driver and did an ipconfig /release.../renew and got the message "No operation can be performed...while disconnected."

Thoughts?

Yup. Where I've replaced the adapter already this year, having another adapter issue was not even a consideration. Plugged the adapter into another desktop that I knew was connected and it dropped the connection like my desktop did. Thanks, Bro!
