Hello

I would like to ask if anyone could tell me what is height of RAM dust covers of Z97 Sabertooth.
I guess it will be same as Z87 so if anyone got either of those motherboads (not sure if z97 is already out) could you tell me please? I tried to search for it but can't find that information anywhere. I wrote also to asus support but so far no response.
I need it to check if I can use that dust cover with Noctua NH-D15 cooler.

Thank you

This is other not directly related thread.
What I mean are plastic dummy ram modules which are feature of sabertooth series. They cover empty ram slots. Sabertooth have such cover for every socket of both inner and outer interface.

I can't tell 100% without opening up my computer and looking inside (which I won't because I'm typing this right now), but from a picture I saw and based on past experience they should probably be about the size of corsair low-profile sized memory. Basically think of a ram stick without the obnoxiously large heatsink that many ram sticks come from. If corsair LP ram fits, then the dust covers will likely fit too. I believe I have them on right now with my hyper 212 evo and they fit just fine (although I think it's easier if you put them in before the cooler)

Thank you.
You use those corsair LP? If no what ram you use? And those dust covers, if you can remember after plug in were +- same height?
Corsair LP should be about 25-26mm which would be low enough. It's funny that it's so hard to find something so simple as picture of this dust cover with any ram plug in :(.

[strike]Ok I was able to find picture of those dust covers with Hyper-X from kingston which should have 30mm height.
These dust covers were slightly smaller so something about 27-28mm probably. So I guess with LP rams it will fit under any cooler.

I ll mark mc962 response as solution as he was essentially right.[/strike]

EDIT:
Ok so either that picture had different ram or they have different sizes of dust covers.

I got official response from asus support and it is 34-35mm from mainboard to top of dust cover.
Picture from support included. It should be for z97 or z87 I guess those 2 have same dust covers.

So I guess I ll either have to use 4x LP rams or as noctua recommend if case allows it shift fan up by few mm. To get clearing of 36mm+

Unless you wanted to spend a lot of extra money on something like the Dominator RAM, you can do perfectly fine with the LP RAM. And yes, that is the RAM I use.

As far as I saw the boards for Z87 and Z97 are essentially the same, just with different chipset and some more connectors, but nothing to warrant ASUS making an entirely new design of RAM dust covers
