Case fan as a CPU fan

Would it be okay to use a case fan as a CPU fan? I have Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus, but the fan is noisy. I'm thinking about switching to COUGAR CF-V12H. I know that fan speed would not be controllable, meaning that it will be running at full speed.

Thanks,

yes, it is usually just fine aslong as it is a size that fits the heatsink ex. 120mm

Heat sink fans really require a high static pressure rather than a high volume. A low static pressure fan will work but be perhaps 1-2C cooler.

As said above as long as the size matches it should not be an issue.

Some things to consider.

-Sleeve bearing fans do not tend to last as long when mounted horizontally. I have seen some last for a few years this way while others have died in months.
-If you are lucky, you board may still be able to control a 3 pin fan. Many boards can still control 3 pin fans on the chassis connectors(you will have to test to ensure it keeps the speed fast enough to cool your cpu).
