I have an asus rt-n66r as my main wireless router, and I have configured another router as an access point in another room. the access point has the same ssid and password. I use parental controls and mac address blocking on the asus router to control access times. Everything works well, as you go from one part of the house to the other, devices change from accessing the main router to the access point. Issue is, when accessing internet through the router, parental controls and mac address blocking works fine, but when the handoff occurs to the access point, those controls established on the main router are bypassed. Anything that can be done so that the controls on the main router are honored when connected through the access point?

There were some bugs in the early version of the firmware related to parental controls. They also have added much more support for things like broadband modems. Since this runs the same firmware as the newest AC routers you may be best to try to download firmware first.

The only thing I could think of is the other router is somehow changing the mac. This is a common issue at times when you have repeaters but AP should be really stupid. If you were to use a wired port on the second router that especially I can't see it changing stuff.

The asus has a pretty good log see if traffic looks any different when it comes from the second router.

If all else fails dd-wrt or one of the many other third party firmware runs on the n66u it tends to be one of the more popular for that purpose.
