Can windows 7 games run on windows 8?

I'm going to be getting a new gaming laptop, and I was wondering if you can play games that were made for Windows 7 in Windows 8.

Yes, all Windows Vista and Windows 7 games work on Windows 8.

Additionally, most Windows XP and Windows 98 games work as well, though you need to go through a bit of work to get certain XP/98 games working.

Even DOS games will usually run through an emulator like DOSbox...

Yes. Windows 7 games will run fine in windows 8 with no compatibility issues. However there are some very old games (made in 2000-2004 or even older) , for which you have to change compatibility settings. All the latest games will run fine on windows 8 and 8.1. Infact you may even find recently releaseed games running better if you have windows 8. this is bcoz of dx11.1 update. If ur graf card supports dx 11 you will have dx11.1 on your system with windows 8. I personally experienced a real speedup in the boot times and application launch times after getting 8.1.
