If that's an issue the op should probably opt for an i3-4130..Will easily outperform a10-6800k for5 the same...But still my money would be on 6300 for multi core performance...

It's not that intel's integrated graphics are better than AMD's (they're not, of course). It's just that intel HAS integrated graphics, and that's enough in case of emergency. The part about the performance obviously refers to the CPU performance, as the iGPU part is irrelevant, because OP is getting a discrete card =)

Of course, you won't get the fanciest graphics, but the HD 4000 Can play games. Valve has made their games less hardware intensive so that more people can play. They also made some of their games free to attract people. Valve did a pretty good job on marketing and their games are pretty fun too.

I believe the point is not PLAYING GAMES on the igpu. The real advantage of having one even when you have a discrete card is to be able to USE the PC if your gpu ever stops working, in case you do not own a different pc (maybe to look for help, check mails, browse internet...). If your graphic card ever breaks down, then you fix it or buy a new one in order to play.
But having a discrete graphics card break is not really common, and by the time it stops working you will probably need to change it anyways...

You just spoke my mind mate...

so Intel graphics isn't better but let's tell this guy it is............. this is supposed to be a forum to help not BS. you have to put fan-boy-ism behind to get to the truth or the reason behind this disappears.

Can you just show me where i said intel graphics is better...And a not an intel fanboy either..I was talking about processor there when i said intel is better...And i just thought you wanted to have an onboard graphics in case of an emergency where your gpu fails..In that case i3 is obviously better..

Did you even read anbello's statement to which i said he spoke my mind...

how's about this. why say Intel's graphics is good enough. if the time comes when when you need to rely on on board graphics, why not have something that can save the day vs something that struggles to play internet spades?

let me say something that'll rain on the parade a little.............. I own a gtx660. it sits in a box. they suck. OP buy a 270x you will better off. this my friends is the truth.

Sacrificing processor performance for onboard graphics perfromance when you have a discrete gpu is not a good idea imo...That too for a scenario where your gpu might fail(which is unlikely to happen)..you have minimum of two years warranty with any gpu(there is not going to be a time where you will have to rely on igpu atleast for two years)..in tow years time the igpu of 6800k too is not going to be usefull..
