Im new to pc building, and I want to make sure I get the right parts. Im getting an AMD 7850k Black Edition and it says it only supports DDR3-2133 memory. If I get memory with a different speed, will it work? (DDR3-1600, for example.) Thanks.
Yes. And its not the CPU that sets the memory speed its the motherboard.
For DDR3 the so called "Standard" is 1600MHZ. Anything faster than that is considered an over clock. Now they make memory that goes faster than 1600MHz like the DDR3-2133 the memory runs at 2133MHz but you have to Manually set it to that speed.

If you are buying ram, get the fastest ram you can afford. The iGPU will thank you and you will get better frame rates in return. I would recommend at least 1866mhz.
