Hello All!

Recently, my computer had some pretty funky boot errors. After replacing a failing drive and reinstalling windows, the problem persisted and I began checking hardware. I ended up removing my PSU and testing it with a multimeter. I started with the 24-pin connector and found 22 voltages well within tolerance, but two confused me.

Pin 7 (COM) - 0.0001 V [While all others were dead 0] and
Pin 8 (PowerGood) - 0.0289 V

Is it okay for a ground (pin 7) to hold a voltage as I was finding?

Isn't pin 8 supposed to reach 5V quickly, or is it possible that this was some sort of standby/unloaded signal.... and ultimately

Is my power supply junk?

System Info -
HP P6310y
Windows 7 Home Premium
ATI Radeon HD5607 GPU
Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W PSU
Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD

Thanks SO much in advance Tom'sHardwarers!

Hey, I use a Huntkey!  Not another one of these Thermaltake PSUs.

I suppose I should also link this video, which @SR-71 Blackbird linked on the last forum post regarding Thermaltake PSUs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ezk9OA7aKOE

I had no idea this was such a poor quality unit! It was a gift and a massive upgrade from my stock 200W, lol. I was going to try to get the warranty honored, but I'm assuming you'd have some suggestions for a much more suitable replacement?

The PWR OK should remain low only for a brief time (i.e. 100–500 ms) after the PS_ON# (Power on) signal is pulled low and should then return back to +5V high.

Oh yes, SR-71 knows far more than I do, but that said, I know some stuff. Seasonic and XFX are the best manufacturers.
