Hi there, this may be a very silly question amongst avid pc users however im sure you can understand my urgency here.. I just bought a new Mobo and Cpu (intel 4130 haswell and msi b85 gaming mobo) to upgrade from my amd system. however when completing the build I find that the power supply doesn't turn on at all. no startup no lights/fans or beeps. I then tried to put back together my old build with the amd cpu and motherboard and still the same thing. Do you think I need a new Psu?

Solution
If it fits... It should have worked. If it was 4+4 it should work. Only one fits.
If it was 8 pin. It still should work. unless if it fits both ways. then you might have fried it.
I also have problems too. Try turning it on with just 1 stick of RAM. Remove everything GPU, Disk, add on cards.
Make sure everything is plugged in tight.
If it doesn't work... (If there is a) CLR_CMOSHW or CLR_CMOS remove the switch then plug in to power. I have to keep my CLR_CMOSHW switch off or it won't turn on. So try that.

I'm going to try this in the morning after checking a quick demonstration of that thanks. One thing I think I should note, the 1150 mobo has a 8pin cpu connector where as my amd system had a 4pin. I accidently tried powering the system first with just a 4pin connector before realising. Would that have possibly fried the motherboard?
