I apologize if this has already been discussed but I could not find a thread that dealt with this problem. My computer has worked fine for a few years but within the past year, I'd occasionally get a blue screen but not too often. Recently, whenever I turn on my computer, it will beep from the computer itself and nothing will show up on the monitor. Sometimes, if I keep trying to turn it off and back on, it will send signal to the monitor but after 10 minutes the computer will beep and the monitor will go black but the computer seems to continue running fine except for the beeps when the monitor goes black. By the way it is a Gateway GM5407E operating on Windows Vista.

Ehh, hate it when computer documentation doesn't explain beep codes. Its difficult to gauge, but typically the beeps mean something if they beep in a pattern. Could be your graphics card if you one installed, disconnect that and connect to onboard graphics and see if that works. Otherwise, could be a RAM issue, but likely not since you would hear beeping at the start. Could also be overheating. The fact that it stays on likely rules out power supply, unless somehow if you have a graphics card, its losing power.
