Hi, i have an emachines t series about 5 or so years old. It only ever got a couple years of moderate use and then stopped working for some reason. I suspect trauma but I'm not sure. It won't boot at all. There's no signal, no bios, and no beeps. The optical drive won't open either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If there is a certain component that is causing this issue, we'll need to find it. Try removing one stick of RAM and booting with that setup. If RAM is not the issue, it could be a motherboard problem, as it didn't seem that your computer was POSTing (judging from your OP) and considering there are no beeps that could be a possibility. It is odd that your CPU fan works, which leads me to believe that there is another component to blame for this issue.

UPDATE: I did a bit of looking around, and have come to the conclusion that resetting your BIOS on the motherboard may help.

If nothing works, there's probably one pretty fundamental issue: power. Considering this is an E-Machine, I'm going to go ahead and assume that the power supply unit (PSU) was not very good in the first place. Have there been any power surges or other electrical malfunctions in your home? If something has happened to that effect, you may have a blown power supply on your hands. Since the system won't boot at all, we can't tell if the possibly-blown PSU took any parts with it. I am guessing that your warranty has expired by now, so if this is indeed a power supply failure you will need to:

A. Replace the power supply with a similar unit.
B. Replace the PC.
C. Take the system into a repair shop, or pay someone reputable to fix it.

I recently tested the psu and its just fine. The computer does turn on and the cpu fan starts on full speed, but then it stays that way.

How many beeps do you get without the RAM? The number of times a motherboard beeps can mean a variety of things. Check your manual for a beep key so you can interpret the beeps. It is interesting that your system will beep without RAM, but not with it installed.

But like I said, check the manual and interpret those beeps.

Ok, so i have a Phoenix motherboard. When i power it on without the ram, it just beeps continuously. I looked, but i couldn't find any Phoenix translation for no beeps or continuous beeping.
