Hi, I am looking to buy a mechanical keyboard but have no clue what switches to get. Right now I'm torn between cherry reds and browns. I am going to be doing a lot of typing on it when I leave for University in the fall and I also do a lot of gaming on my PC. Most people tell me to try them and see which I like but I can't because I have no stores stores around my house to try them at. Which do you think we would better for me?

Brown's are considered the all-rounder switch, they arent as loud as blues but feel very similar. I went with Brown's when deciding in a situation similar to yours and I find them fairly good.
That being said I only have experience with Browns, but their what I would recommend.

My first two mechanical keyboards that I bought were cherry reds and browns from Coolermaster. I found the MX browns nice, but their tactile bump is not present when typing speeds above 50wpm.. Browns to me, just feels like a dirty red switch (scratchy), and nothing special.. Reds were very satisfying, smooth and my typing was just as good on it regardless of it being a linear switch. I recommend cherry mx reds personally. I sold both of those keyboards though in order to get a topre keyboard which I am typing on and love it and has a slight resemblance of my old red switch. :)
