My GTX 650 Ti Boost is having an identity crisis.

So yesterday I was trying to install a new hard drive. It didn't work, but everything seemed unharmed. Then I tried launching a game. I got errors in seemingly every DirectX game. (minecraft still works though so at least i have that)

Looking in the settings for one of the games revealed it detected my GPU as undefined. Looking at nVidia Inspector and GeForce Experience revealed it was detecting as a GK106, apparently a GTX 660. This is obviously not right. I tried unplugging the power from the gpu and the gpu from the slot, but that didn't help either.

There are no framerate issues in Minecraft, so I see no reason why it's breaking DX games. Anyone have any ideas?

What does device manager call it? (Not sure if windows calls it a 600 series or actually calls out the model, don't remember). In either case, try uninstalling the drivers completely from device manager and download and reinstalling the driver: http://www.geforce.com/drivers . do the manual driver search, and also just make absolutely sure your graphics card says GTX 650 Ti on it (not the box, the actual card. Especially important if you bought an unsealed or used one).

Windows calls it by its correct model number, so that's good I think. I'll try reinstalling the drivers in the morning. Thanks.
