Ok, first you need to upgrade your PSU, 300W won't have enough power, for anything. You said you want to spend 1000 dollars? Euros? be more specific please!!!

Ok basically you are just gonna throw away your old PC?, I mean for 3000 dollars you can build a beast PC. Why did you post your specs in the first place?

Okay, I know it's not very smart, but I have shirt if an emotional bond with this trash can. It's the first thing to come to a gaming PC I've ever had. :p

Keep it for older games and all other normal computer tasks, 750ti would be all I'd add to that system the PSU is just the power source, it's easy to change just take a few pictures before you unhook everything, I personally think you'd be fine with your 300w PSU and a 750ti.

Build a new i7 780ti/290x build with your budget, you can upgrade your current PC and build a beast new one.

Do you plan on upgrading your current system and buying a new one? Do you have a need for a 2nd PC? Maybe put it in your living room with some sweet wireless controllers, even a smartphone/tablet makes an amazing keyboard/mouse for a living room PC.

Wouldn't 4670K be a better choice for him?

I mean, the 4770K is good when it comes to video editing and such..

But the 4670K is almost as good as the 4770K in-game but a lot cheaper.

It seems like he is going NVidia which prior to the last few driver updates I actually had my HT off and got better benchmarks, but since they figured out somehow how to use more threads better I now have HT on and now benchmark with higher min/avg FPS, I wouldn't have believed it until I saw/felt it.

The performance is almost the same;

The clock speed in the 4770K is around 100Mhz faster and has 2Mb more cache compared to the 4670K. Which is slightly better.

But not all games can utilize the 8 logical cores in the CPU, so therefor HT isn't necessary when it comes to gaming.

Agreed it's not a huge difference but I do get better FPS with it on now, where before I got better benchmarks with it off, the new NVidia driver really helped with all my games and for the first time in years am happy I got am i7 with HT on, he has a 3k budget...

3K budget, wouldn't that be enough for a 4930K with a 2011-socket mother board?
