If there is a network with 1 computer on it connected through ethernet, does a DDoS attack versus the network damage the router or networking card on the computer in any way short term or long term?

Lol. What reason is there for the ISP to be upset at a victim of DDoS? Usually there isn't a cap, at least not near LA... I assumed since your network card processes all the packets that it would inflict some kind of more stress on it? Usually when the attack ends, it takes a min or two for my internet capability to fully return which is why I thought it was 'clearing everything up' because of the heavy load. On terms of the ISP even knowing about it, I've taken 20gbps for days at a time when on vacation, just got home and called em up to change the ip, AT&T didn't even bat an eye at me.
