OK so I just installed a Asus GTX 750Ti OC and now my pc seems to be running worst than it did before...

Old specs:

2008 HP Pavilion Elite (m9180f)
Core 2 Quad 2.66ghz (Q6700)
4Gb DDR2 RAM 667mhz
GeForce 8800 GT 512mb
Benicia mobo
460watt 12V/16A Delta PSU

Heres how the 750Ti installation is affecting me:

- Webpage images taking longer to load
- Gif's are taking A LONG time to load...feels like my pc 10 years ago.
- Google Maps is TERRIBLE. Definitely alot worst than my previous card which did pretty well.

When im finished re-downloading Starcraft 2...ill be able to see how it performs compared to my old card. I havent done any game testing yet, though I did a performance benchmark test with my 750Ti installed and the 3d scores seemed to be what they should be, while the 2D score was even lower than my previous card! Why is this?

OK heres where I get castrated.. The PSU im using meets the requirement of 400watts (300 on some other 750Ti's).. but it also wants 12Volts with 20A My PSU is 12Volts with 16A.... I knew of this prior to buying the card but Ive read that it should be OK in alot of cases...so I took my chances. My question is: How does having improper power affect my PC performance? Is this whats causing the crappy 2D performance? The GTX 750Ti only uses 60 watts.....

Also, another thing I should add is that, when I first installed 750ti and all the drivers, my PC was SUPER SUPER slow, even Quake Live was low on fps and that game is ancient....but everything sped up to where Im at now...crappy webpage loading and google maps is awful.. I have more testing/comparisons to do but can anyone off the bat tell me whats wrong here?

Keep in mind that the 750Ti only uses 60watts.... about half of what my old card used...I should also throw in there that this version of the 750Ti uses the 6-pin power connector unlike the rest of the 750's that have no power connector...

Wait, what? How does...
You don't blame the 750Ti for an internet issue when you are downloading Starcraft 2 whilst browsing. (If you were doing that)

I wasnt. I should have structured that part of my post differently.. Im not downloading anything right now and Google earth is crap, gif loading is crap... I ran the performance test on a clean desktop.. I dont think its my net

Edit: OK, it could have been my internet..Googlemaps is running pretty smooth now (I feel very stupid) but it still doesnt explain why my 2D benchmark is low....its slightly lower than my old card....and ALOT lower than the 550Ti score..

Things seem to be working alot better now...4 performance tests later. I think that first awful performance test result I got made me panic for a bit..

Am I going to be OK with my PSU though?

It should be fine. A 750Ti uses roughly 140 Watts in load
Can you monitor your cpu and gpu usage when at idle, browsing and gaming?

If you're referring to the Windows Experience Index that test isn't really worth paying much attention to. The 750ti is a much more powerful card than a 550ti. It could be that as the 750ti is on an all new architecture the 2D drivers need tweaking, or it's probably that the newer card slows it clocks down further than a 550ti when it isn't doing much to save power.

Either way I really wouldn't worry about the 2-D graphics score!

If the card can run through 3-D mark comfortably with no issues I'd say you're fine. Manufacturers always over-estimate the power requirements for their cards.

I havent tried that. Is there some kind of widget software that I can view while in game? that would definitely help me keep an eye on things..

You can use Windows Task manager and look at the graphs or download ASUS GPU Tweak which can monitor the cpu and gpu

the Asus monitoring software says my Voltage (mV) is at ~960 out of 2000... Does that sound right?

Sounds normal at idle.

Remove all the nvidia drivers and download and install the latest directly from nvidia.

As the smoke settles I realize it was probably just the stock video driver that was causing problems in combination with my neighbor streaming netflix using my network (shes hot).... End result is that my 3D graphics jumped up to expected levels while my 2D sunk a tiny bit... All is well...Thanks for getting me threw this guys..much appriciated
