Please disregard the "product model" I don't know it so I selected 700E. I currently have a Compaq Presario Model CQ5500Y which came with an AMD Sempron 140 Max TDP 41W Single Core Processor. Today I purchased an "AMD Phenom II X3 B73 2.8 GHz 95W Triple-Core AM2+ CPU Processor HDXB73WFK3DGI"
Please tell me if A)This product is compatable with my PC, B)Will I need to install or change the Fan inside my unit so it does not get too hot and C)Will this upgrade affect my Windows 8.1 Pro Installation? They said changing the processor will sometimes cause an error message "Windows Not Activated" or something along those lines. My motherboard is PEGATRON CORPORATION Model NARRA5, BIOS Phoenix Technologies LTD, Date 12/08/2009 Any information that you provide would be very helpful as I am not very computer savvy and need all the info and recommendations you can offer. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. Kristopher Nichols

Solution
You have purchased a phenom II triple core, which is in the manufacturer's list of supported CPUs so yes it should work, you may need to update your BIOS first

Yes you will need to change the fan

No it shouldn't affect your windows activation
