I have a 20" 1600x900 resolution monitor and I'm thinking of selling it and upgrade to a 1080p monitor 22" or 24" or maybe a 27" but others say that 1080p on a 27 inch isn't pretty to look at. I just wanna know if there is a noticeable difference in terms of crispness or just the size.

More about : 900p 1080p

It mostly comes down to individual user preference.
I know people who have no trouble playing with 1080p 50inch TVs for monitors, but i think it looks terrible.

I have a 25" 1080p and thats about the biggest id personally recommend but 27" shouldnt be "Bad".

27inch is great for gaming any bigger and then you look more towards 4k region lol I dont think many people wanna go there just yet I know my graphics card cant cope with it lol not on the games I wanna play at ultra **coff** Watch Dogs **coff**.

Depending how much you wanna spend you can have a truely unbelievable gaming experience on a 27inch monitor long as the brand and price is right.

Sweet spot 24inch I believe but 27inch I would honestly say is just as good I can't seem to get used to playing on my 24inch monitor since I have used a 42inch telly as a monitor for so long I am having to move to a 27inch monitor to make up for the size loss lol

I personally would rather keep the size of a 1080p monitor at 25" or less. 23" or 24" seems to be the ideal size for 1080p. If you keep the monitor around 23-24 inches, it will be almost exactly as crisp as a 20" 900p monitor (about 8400 PPI). If you keep it around 21-22 inches, it'll still be more crisp than a 20" 900p monitor.

If you go to 25" or higher, it will be less crisp than your 900p monitor (about 7700 PPI). 27" shouldn't be ugly, but it certainly wouldn't be as sharp as the monitor you have now.

Whatever you do, try to find out what kind of panel your monitor uses (TN, VA, IPS, etc) so you don't buy something with worse color accuracy or other specs.

When talking in terms of visual fidelity it's all about pixles per inch. A 1080p 24 inch monitor will produce a better image than a 27 inch 1080p because it has a higher pixle density.

My take is get a 24 inch 1080p, if you want a 27 inch get a 1440p, if you want 32 inch get a 1600p and when you start to go over that you want to start looking at 4K to have the optimum visual quality.

Of course that all depends on budget to run 1600p and higher you're going to need a seriously powerful system. So my suggestion would be 24 inch 1080p or 27 inch 1440p.
