hi guys, currently i have i3 4130 + 4gb ram (1 stick) + 1gb radeon hd7790

so i want to ask, when trying to play BF4 on ultra setting my VRAM usage is hitting the maximum vram (961mb) after playing for a while, after hit the maximum vram the gameplay become very laggy. (even though before it hit maximum vram it's not laggy at all 50-70 fps)

is there a way to fix this? are buying 1 more 4gb stick of ram will fix this? or this is the maximum capability of 1gb VRAM so it will not affected even though i buy more RAM?

the lag is like freezing for 2 second, then move again.

More about : vram ram laggy bf4

that's what i would expect on ultra, BF4 requirements on ultra is more demanding then you may think, it requires more PC power then your setup.

You need a GTX 760 and i5 for the better ultra experience.

Ram won't do anything for you.

Firstly, ultra settings is too high really for your GPU regardless of the amount of vram it has. You have a low-mid GPU, and ultra settings is really for mid-high to high. Try turning down the details settings and turning off anti aliasing.

Secondly, your single stick of 4gb is also holding you back as you should be running dual channel (2 sticks) to get the most memory bandwidth, another 4gb stick would help, but your lowish end GPU is the main bottleneck.

i see ._. , i'm asking because in other forum there's someone who tell this game is very RAM hungry. so i suspected the RAM or VRAM is not enough.

._. yeah, maybe Ultra BF4 is too much for my GPU, even though BF3 can be played just fine on ultra with 4gb stick.

so another stick of 4gb will increase my performance?

Another 4gb stick would be better for performance as you are running in single channel, and 4gb is fairly low by modern standards, but ultimatly your graphics card is your main bottleneck.

barely, if none at all. If you want best performance, you need a new GPU.

single channel and dual channel don't offer such a huge difference, don't recommend more ram, it won't help!

for now i will try buy 4gb more ram, since it will be used in near future anyways.

i know my gpu is middle end one, but i'm just buying it 4 month ago. so changing my GPU is not an option for now :D  at least i used it for 1 or 2 year then i will change it later :D .

thx for all your answer, it helped me :D

Yeah extra 4gb should help combined with lowering the detail settings.

i'd sacrifice graphics settings for extra fps, i have a 670, but i play at mid-high just to get close to 120fps (i have a 120hz monitor)
