So basically last week my pc was working fine on the saturday, but when i came home sunday it just wouldnt turn on. i assumed the psu was dead as i couldnt get it to start. After purchasing a new psu, it still wont turn on. I have checked that everything is wired properly, however i will post pictures soon.

known pc specs:
amd radeon hd 6800 series graphics.
4gb ram (2x2gb corsair vengeance)
old psu: antec hcg 520w
new psu: coolermaster g550m 550w
MB: gigabyte-ga-z68ap-d3
cpu i5-2500k

Solution
First off, not to insult your intelligence but do a quick check and make certain your surge protector is plugged into the wall, and the power connections from the PC to the surge protector are good. Also make certain you do not have a hard on off switch on your PSU that got pushed off.

Remove everything but your ram and try to turn it on. If it doesn't power on then it is likely your mainboard.

If it fires up start adding your drives/cards back in one at a time until you find the bad one.

Are there any lights at all on the PC? On the motherboard? PSU? Have you tried a different plugboard (powerstrip), or moving the PC to a different power socket altogether?

It is strange to get absolutely no response from the PC whatsoever... you're presumption on the PSU was a good one...

Is your CPU overclocked?

Out of all the things that could break that would lead to this issue....it is most likely your PSU, not your mainboard as someone else stated. You even stated it was an old PSU, which makes it even more likely.

You can remove your PSU from your system, and jump it on... I would say use a dummy load and test your voltages but I doubt you have that available to work with.

If you have another PSU laying around, give it a shot. It may be worth it to go buy one from bestbuy/walmart to try.. you can always return it if thats not the issue.

Except he already replaced the PSU. Though jumping the new one is not a bad idea, just to make sure it does indeed work.

I did miss where he said he purchased a new one. Although it is possible he has two bad PSUs.
