Hi. I need to save thousands of images & a slideshow that will be locked in a Time Capsule for 18 years. What is the best option to save the images & slideshow to that will not Fail to open & view in 18 years?

Thank you!

With M-Disc your data is engraved in stone. The manufacturer claims that it will last 1,000 years. Whether that's true or not is debatable. :)

Here's additional info on it: http://www.mdisc.com/what-is-mdisc/

Hi Charity14

It remains an interesting question how best to archive Data. I'll add a link to a PDF from Library and Archives Canada that pretty much covers all the parameters as they are now. For an 18 year period very good quality DVD's properly prepared and stored should do perfectly well for keeping the data safe, readability is a different issue and requires a little planing as you will want to avoid using a proprietary format... say like a Camera manufacturer's specific RAW or Jpeg format. As well there's a reasonable software concern and simply put I would not make plans to include the software that would run the slideshow aspect of your plan as it will possibly be obsolete when the time capsule is opened. The alternative is to make a video of the slide show and store that along with the image files.

In any event the link below is one among many that will prove helpful in planing your project.
